HotT Mechs Debased Rebased Mechwarrior Hordes of the Things

On the Draconis Combine - Federated Suns border, in the Robinson Area of Operations, two mechwarrior forces clashed on the world of Scone.  Using new rules of engagement cobbled by Ken Van Pelt, the Lion's Den Wargamers are going to engage in a 7 army campaign set in the world of Battletech.  The forces used will be HotT armies created from Mechwarrior Clix that have been rebased on hex card stock.
Federated Suns Mech lance supported by power armored marines engage Dragon mechs pushing into the urban terrain border of the city of Null.  Air support from the Dragon attack choppers can be detected at the top of the photo.

Top down view from the dropship Clavey.  Suns entered from stage left and pushed into and held the town of Null.  The Kuritan commander was killed near the city reservoir in a cross fire mech duel.  Draconis forces pushed to the city limits from stage right but couldn't get a toe hold on the urban terrain.  At the loss of command and control the battle was quit and the Kuritans pulled back for extrication.  The planet Scone would become Federated property.

Sun heavy armor supported by artillery slug it out on the North side of Metropolitan Void.  Ranges and exchange fire was adjudicated and discussed on this playtest of the HotT version of Battletech.
Southside once again we see the right flank armor  push into the scrubland and forested terrain near the Scone hinterland.

Gotta love the PBI.  These foot sloggers entrenched into Null proper and kept the town out of the Dragon clutches.
Dragon Power armor troops in the Scone forest.  These troops did themselves credit and held off an armor assault pretty well.

 Battletech.

Thanks for looking in on the AAR.  Stay tuned to this Com-Star Station for more Mechwarrior campaigning.

And now a coded message to all of our Federated Suns forces and RCT.
"Do you know the muffin man?  REPEAT, Do you know the muffin man."

Thank you and good night.

The Dread Pirate Yellow Beard!!

Off the coast of the Isla Doubloon, our captain Yellowbeard did reap the rewards of the open sea and pursue with steadfast doggedness the vile captain Verde.  Verde did succumb to the cannon and blade of Yellowbeard much to his personal chagrin and honour.  There was not  that could be done against Yellowbeards desire for gold and glory. And now poor Captain Verde is known as the dice-straught sailor.  Sing it with me lads.  Follow the bouncing cannon ball....
 "Hail to Yellowbeard."
A golden win.

Dice-straught Sailor - heaving shanty

What shall we do with a dice-straught sailor?
What shall we do with a dice-straught sailor?
What shall we do with a dice-straught sailor?
Early in the morning?
Way-hay, up she rises
Way-hay, up she rises
Way-hay, up she rises
Early in the morning

Put him in the long boat 'til he's sober
Pull out the bung and wet him all over
Put him in the scuppers with the deck pump on him
Heave him by the leg in a runnin' bowlin'
Tie him to the taffrail when she's yard-arm under

The Glorious 21st of June Convention Battle 2007

From a pre-blog convention folder.  I thought I would add a post from the days before my blog started of a great convention game our club did at the Lee's Summit Recruits convention in 2007.
For your Nautical Eye Candy Pleasure:
 The Glorious 21st of June

The goal was to host a convention naval game of such size that it had to be played on the floor in a school gymnasium.  This game lasted over two days and two sessions.  We did the first half of the battle line on Friday and then the second half of the battle line on Saturday.

Neat little ships I picked up from Dollar General.

The firing line.

The melee, signal close action.

Iraquistan HotT Micro Armor in the Sandbox

The Secondhand Lions Thursday night game featured a micro armor roll through an ISIS occupied city in the imagi-Nation of Iraquistan.  Our US force encountered randomly generated combat operations against insurgent forces using Hordes of the Things as our base mechanic.

The full map of Iraquistan

The opium fields and farm estates.

A view of the US base.

The insurgent encounter chart.  The rumikubes tiles were randomly placed on the map and when these specific tiles were drawn then these pieces entered the game board and fought the US forces.  The key to victory was to find and destroy the insurgent HQ code name "red 13".

The US column winds past an old mosque.  War weary civilians watch as the column progresses by.

The US column has crossed the earth berm and is in a sweep formation for the village perimeter.

Attack choppers search for insurgents.

IED exploding in the distance.

Micro armor in the sandbox.

Civilian casualties are to be avoided at all cost.

Lower left is where the cat hit the fan...

US sweep.

Some Tangos...

and some more.

New internally displaced persons.

Nice little farm in prime opium country.

Wall crashing with the armored company.  M1A2 Tusks doing some compound remodeling.

Air assault.

A small sideshow hornet's nest is cleared by HQ platoon and the tankers.

Aloha snack-bar.

Aerial shot of the fight.

Red 13 is busted open by 1st platoon.  Reduced successfully and the village is declared friendly.

US marines of 1st platoon go through the walls.

Game over.

Second game of the night was a NERF clearing of an Iraquistan compound.  The 1/32 scale compound was seeded with Liberty Deck playing cards. (This is the identity recognition deck from Desert Storm.)  We were on the hunt for Saddam Hussein.  The Ace of Spades card was in the mix and we would encounter him and his body guard in the compound.

So this fire line above was generated from this miniatures encounter as the Bradley fighting vehicle disgorged it's US troops into the fight....

Comin' for you like a spider monkey Saddam...

See the above live action firing line that this move generated.  Knock knock knock.

This is a sniper's view of the compound.  We had a sniper picking off targets that were spotted on the rooftop.

This game concluded too soon.  Saddam apparently was at the front door of his super secret hide out and was found and shot after a significant shoot out with US troops.  It took three rounds to get him but hey a wins a win.

Who puts the dragon in the first room of the dungeon?  Pfft... oh well maybe next time.
