Rome's Conquest of Gaul
Rome's conquest of Gaul.
Proconsul Julius Caesar marches into the valley of the Rhine. Crossing the Rhine River with three cohorts. It is the year 58 BC. Julius is responding to the possibility of an uprising among the tribes of the Celts. It is rumored that the Viromanduii are dissatisfied with their lands and want expansion.
They are neutral aggressive versus the Romans. If this unrest is not quelled it will spread to the other tribes. So taking the VIIth VIIIth and IXth cohorts into the valley, Julius Caesar and his Commanders must put down this uprising.
It is early April in the year 58 BC. The first battle featuring Titus Labienus versus Commius of the Viromanduii is a victory for the Gauls. Rome reels under the defeat.
Commius of the Viromanduii
Titus Labienus, commander of the VII Cohort. Surveys the lines and orders the skirmishers forward.

Secondhand Lion's Game Night
The Thursday night regulars had a HotT throwdown this week with two battlefields featured. On table 1 was the Crusades armies with some fantasy elements added. The Saracen army fielded a flying carpet and a djinn magician. The Crusader army was pretty historical but had some added heroic elements like a paladin and some relic bearing heroes.
I really like the look and feel of these Supreme Plastics figures. They are prepainted rubber 60mm and make for fun to build and great to play armies. Best part of the hobby is the game, beer, and good friends.

Supreme Afternoon of HotT Gaming
I have been collecting the Supreme Brand Bag-o-figs from Hobby Lobby. They come in a variety of epochs and are prepainted in a rough fashion. What they've got going for them is durability and cheapness. I am not oppossed to building a quick army for under $50 that I don't have to paint and can while away an afternoon bashin about on the gaming table. What follows is a solo game using Hordes of the Things rules and two 48 point fantasy armies based on ancient Egypt and ancient Greece. Double click the images for close up views. The howdah are scratchbuilt. The game is still on the table...
Go figure. Not a single chariot in the Egyptian sets. So these are my Numidian light cavalry classified as riders in HotT. I am waiting until Hobby Lobby gets the Saracens with camels in the bagged sets. I saw the bucket of Crusaders, Knights, Saracens but didn't want to go $22 for just four camels and I already have all the crusaders and knight figures.
